Iceland is a northern island country with spectacular scenery consisting of volcanoes, geysers, hot springs and lava fields. The national parks of Vatnajökull and Snæfellsjökull have huge protected glaciers. Most Icelanders live in the capital, Reykjavik, which is powered by geothermal energy. It is home to the National Museum and the Saga Museum, which chronicle the country's Viking history.
